To those who haven't been following, Rob Bowling, community manager fro Infinity Ward released that IW's upcoming title; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, will not feature dedicated server or mod support.
Today, Jason West, (COO of Infinity Ward) released a statement as to why (probably false, it doesn't make logical sense), he explains that it will "remove cheaters" and "the insular communities and huge skill level disparities that the original game's community fractured into."
That is bullpie, absolute bullpie. IW believe that it will make it easier for new gamers to get into a server with like players, sure, it might, but a lot of the players from outside the U.S will probably end up on U.S servers. Having communities and Dedicated servers is a) cheaper for IW. b) easier for IW. And c) better for everyone. With IW's IWNet, you will -apparently- be placed into a server with like players, by skill, and distance. This sounds good, but I've played multiple games with matchmaking style multiplayer, and they all dump me into American servers, where by the time I shoot at what I think is a person, they're actually behind me.
The developers should have considered a system similar to Valve's L4D, where the Dedicated servers are there, but there is a quick play function, where the player tell the game what map, difficulty, and location, and it then finds a dedicated server based on the criteria.
The server browser itself isn't shown as a button in-game, but is accessed through the console. This system is actually really effective, as it has the best of both worlds, Dedicated servers, and Find a game. Not having dedicated servers is going to make it harder for long time players, as they will be shoved into games that are nowhere near them, or will be packed into a bunch of 12 year olds that just wanna be a general pain.
I hope that IWNet is a huge flop, and IW never uses it again.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare rage.
I love CoD4, and am eagerly waiting for MW2 to come out, but I am sick to death of public gamers who want to play 'knives only' and abuse anyone who doesn't knife.
I just got off a server where I copped such abuse, and I am starting to play less and less CoD4 these days.
I'm not sure as to whether it's related to the school holidays that have just started in the Eastern states of Australia or not, but it seems to be this time of year that it flares up. I yearn for a game where the players act like the MA15+ rating it states on the games cover. Now, I fully admit that I played MA games before I was 15, but I never once acted like I was. I have always considered myself to be a mature gamer, as I am always looking out for fellow gamers that are copping such abuse and won't retaliate in a caps-lock response telling them to shut up, sometimes, my shift key will hang, but that's only after I try to be reasonable once or twice.
I hope this blog post has reached some gamers and will think about the way they play in the future.

New PC parts!
Been a while since I got some major PC parts, I had my video card upgraded a little while ago, but nothing like this.
For an early 18th present (with my own monetary addition), now have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400
which for the boffins who want to know, it's 2.66 GHz with a Bus speed of 1333MHz and a 4mb Cache size. While it's no i7, it's good for me.
The CPU I used to have was an AMD Athlon X2 62 3800+ (dual core), AM2 slot and only a petty 2.0GHz, when I got it, it was good, but now, it just doesn't cut it anymore.
Obviously I had to get a new motherboard too, so I got a nice Asus P5Q SE Plus. Again, not the greatest, but it has 4 RAM slots (which is what I needed if I wanted to keep my 4GB Ram without getting new sticks. It doesn't have SLi technology, but I don't need it, it's a good motherboard for what I need.
Finally I got a new PSU, I've changed from an old Thermaltake 400W PSU, to a Big Ant 750W PSU, the tricky thing is, it isn't actually 750W in theory. What some PSU manufacturers do is advertise it's peak power, so while it says 750W, it's really about 550W.
So while it's not great, it's good. I probably could have installed this myself, but that would take time and effort I don't have, it was just easier (and safer) to install it myself in the long-run.
And that's me out.
Good luck and good hunting!

Boy accidently kills himself trying to imitate Halo
http://www.gamegrep.com/news/13045-boy_accidently_kills_himself_trying_to_imitate_halo/
This is quite sad to be honest, in more way than one.
On a different note though, this is quite sad, and I send my sympathy to the parents, even if they did their 11 year old kid play with a loaded gun.

Another alleged videogame related death. This time involving the popular Xbox shooter Halo. 11 year old Johnson Creek boy Nimm was apparently a big fan of Halo, even taking a liking to firearms after playing the futuristic FPS. While at home skipping school Nimm was apparently trying to imitate moves from the game with his .22 caliber rifle (a common pastime for the child). However he did not obviously grasp that a round could still be loaded in the chamber even when the magazine ejected and was found shot through the head yesterday.Let's just go through his a bit yeah?
from the game with his .22 caliber rifle (a common pastime for the child)Can someone please tell me as to why his parents are letting this 11 year old play with a .22 caliber rifle? Because that in itself is just a tad dangerous.
did not obviously grasp that a round could still be loaded in the chamberWhat? Again, why has this kid got a .22? Loaded even!? Are his parents on drugs?

Project Reality- The journey of a marksman.
So this morning, I thought I might play some Project Reality (for those who don't know what it is, it's a modification for Battlefield 2, go to www.realitymod.com for more info). Now, I have heard some people don't like the new update for it, saying it's impossible to hit anything, and whatnot, but I totally disagree.
I played as a marksman on the map Road to Kyongan'Ni, on the skirmish mode (smaller map, made for 10v10 scrims. All I did was sit back in the trees, not moving, only looking around for enemies, and they were flooding in 1 area, it was a field day for me, there was 3 people running in, got 2 of them and I watched their bodies fall over as my bullet whacked them hard, but I lost sight of the third guy, who I found walking toward where I was (I presume in an attempt to kill me), he was a easy target as he was headed straight for me, so when my bullet hit, he just fell backwards.
I thought "why are people saying it's hard to hit people"? Vecause i was getting kills left, right and center.
I fell the develeopers of PR have hit a good note, but the wrong chord, because it doesn't appeal to most of the other older players of PR, but still very, very good.
